Craft Magic Arms & Armor [Item Creation]
Prerequisites: Caster level 5th; or craft (weaponsmithing) 4 ranks and craft (armorsmithing) 4 ranks and Caster level 1st.
Benefit: You can create any magic weapon, armor, or shield whose prerequisites you meet. Enhancing a weapon, suit of armor, or shield takes one day for each 1,000 gp in the price of its magical features divided by the total of your caster level divided by the total enhancement bonus.
Example 1
A suit of +5 armor with heavy fortification has a total enhancement bonus of +10. The base price is 100,000gp for such a suit of armor, making the base time 100 days. Divide this by your caster level (we'll assume CL 20 for this equation) over the total enhancement bonus. Thus 100,000gp / 1,000gp = 100 days / (CL 20 / +10 total enhancement bonus) = 50 days.
Example 2
A suit of +2 armor has a total enhancement bonus of +2. The base price is 4,000gp for such a suit of armor, making the base time 4 days. Divide this by your caster level (we'll assume CL 5 for this equation) over the total enhancement bonus. Thus 4,000gp / 1,000gp = 4 days / (CL 5 / +2 total enhancement bonus) = 1.6 days (rounded up to 2 days).
To enhance a weapon, suit of armor, or shield, you must spend 1/25 of its features? total price in XP and use up raw materials costing one-half of this total price.
The weapon, armor, or shield to be enhanced must be a masterwork item that you provide. Its cost is not included in the above cost.
You can also mend a broken magic weapon, suit of armor, or shield if it is one that you could make. Doing so costs half the XP, half the raw materials, and half the time it would take to craft that item in the first place.
Special: For every 10 ranks you have in craft (weaponsmith) or craft (armorsmith) (whichever is appropriate for the item you are making), you reduce the total time for crafting by 5%, to a maximum of -50%. This reduction cannot bring the time lower than 1 day per point of total enhancement bonus.
